October Wrap Up

October was a slow reading month for me. I listened to more music and podcasts at work then I did audiobooks.. yeah its been one of those months (Thank God for Dear Hank and John!). I did read 4 new books, reread 2 HP books and made bigger dent in The Fiery Cross. (November will be the month I finish it!!!)

  • Invictus
  • The Walled City
  • This Darkness Mine
  • All The Crooked Saints
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
  • The Fiery Cross
  • The Scorpio Races

I concluded repping for 4 shops

I also got to attend the first (hopefully annual) Oklahoma Teen Book Con last weekend and met Maggie Steifvater, Ryan Graudin, Scott Reintgen, and Windy Spinale! It was amazing and so great to see so many awesome authors come to little old Oklahoma! Full post about that to come later but just in case you don’t believe me here is a picture of Maggie Stiefvater speaking on a panel and signing my books!! ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️

28421168

Secret Identities.
Extraordinary Powers.
She wants vengeance. He wants justice.

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies—humans with extraordinary abilities—who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone…except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice—and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both. (Goodreads summary).

Why I Am Waiting

I fell head over heals in love with Marissa Meyer’s story telling from the first chapter of Cinder. The Lunar Chronicles is still one of my favorite series that I reread frequently (partially because I own the audio books and Rebecca Soler is a top notch narrator!) I wasn’t as captivated by Heartless as I was by The Lunar Chronicles but I’m also not a fan of Alice in Wonderland, like at all. Renegades will be her first non retelling and I am super excited to see what she has got in store! From the summary it sounds a bit like a dystopian, which I am drawn to like a magnet, and a bit futuristic, and a whole lot of GIVE ME NOW! This releases on the same day as The Becoming of Noah Shaw… I might have to flip a coin to determine which one to read first!

Waiting on Wednesday – One Dark Throne

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week I am waiting (and appears I will continue to wait for the ending) for One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake

Expected publication: September 19th 2017 by Harper Teen

29923707The battle for the Crown has begun, but which of the three sisters will prevail?

With the unforgettable events of the Quickening behind them and the Ascension Year underway, all bets are off. Katharine, once the weak and feeble sister, is stronger than ever before. Arsinoe, after discovering the truth about her powers, must figure out how to make her secret talent work in her favor without anyone finding out. And Mirabella, once thought to be the strongest sister of all and the certain Queen Crowned, faces attacks like never before—ones that put those around her in danger she can’t seem to prevent.

In this enthralling sequel to Kendare Blake’s New York Times bestselling Three Dark Crowns, Fennbirn’s deadliest queens must face the one thing standing in their way of the crown: each other (goodreads summary)

Why I Am Waiting

Well I was anxious to see what happened after the cliff hanger of Three Dark Crowns and get to the end of the conclusion of the story, buuuuut it appears that due to the overwhelming popularity of the first book Kendare Blake has now decided to extend the series from two books to FOUR. FOUR! ugh WHY?! Dulogies are great! I really liked this first book and was intrigued by this strange island that had queens kill of their sisters with their magical abilities in order to win their crown. But I’m not sure this story is enough for FOUR books.

Sorry this waiting on Wednesday post has turned into whining on Wednesday about waiting for more books. I’m still excited for the release of One Dark Throne though, just bummed I wont get the conclusion I was waiting for just yet.

BTW if you have read TDC who is your favorite queen? I’m still a little torn between Arsinoe and Katharine. I just wish Jules could be queen. She’s the toughest of them all. Watch that be a twist in one of the newly added books! HA!

Waiting on Wednesday – Tower of Dawn

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week I am waiting waiting WAITING on Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Expected publication September 5th 2017 by Bloomsbury U.S.A. Children’s Books

31450852In the next installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, follow Chaol on his sweeping journey to a distant empire.

Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since the glass castle shattered, since his men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken.

His only shot at recovery lies with the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme in Antica—the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire. And with war looming over Dorian and Aelin back home, their survival might lie with Chaol and Nesryn convincing its rulers to ally with them.

But what they discover in Antica will change them both—and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined. (Goodreads summary)

Why I Am Waiting

  • Because Sarah J. Maas
  • Because Empire of Storms destroyed me and I need MORE!
  • Because it feels like A Court of Wings and Ruin seems like forever ago.
  • Because Sarah J. Maas
  • Because even though Chaol isn’t anywhere close to being by favorite character ( I seem to be in the minority here) I am very curious about the southern continent, we only explored a small fraction in The Assassin’s Blade stories. I want more.
  • Because I want more Nesryn.
  • Because I need more of this world.
  • SARAH J. FREAKIN MAAS!
